State Highway Two south of Auckland was closed on Thursday evening after a serious crash.
Two people were critically injured in the crash between a truck and a van with seven people inside.
One person was in a serious condition and four others suffered moderate injuries.
The police say the accident happened just past the turnoff to Tauranga from State Highway One.
