There will be a staggered transfer of community laboratory testing in the Auckland region.
Lab Tests has the contract to take over all community lab testing in Auckland in September, following a long legal battle.
The contract switch is massive and Lab Tests has wanted to take over in stages.
The district health boards say that will happen, with Lab Tests taking over all collection, testing and reporting for Counties Manukau on 10 August.
That will be followed by tests for the area covered by Auckland DHB on 24 August and Waitemata on 7 September.
The DHBs say barring a few exceptions, the public may still have their samples taken where it is most convenient.
