Work continues at Queenstown development

5:27 pm on 1 July 2009

Receivers called in over the $1 billion Kawarau Falls development at Queenstown have not yet made a decision about whether the project will continue.

Korda Mentha was appointed at the end of May by the Bank of Scotland, over Melview Kawarau Falls Station Limited.

Grant Graham of KordaMentha was unable to comment on progress so far, but one of the building contractors says work is continuing.

Steve McLean from Rilean Construction says "it's business as usual" as far as he is concerned.

However, Mr McLean says it would be nice to have some certainty and expects some news from the receiver within the next week.

There are 500 workers on site from various building and subcontracting companies. Everyone is still being paid on time.
