Police believe one man is responsible for two gun incidents in the Wellington suburb of Newtown.
A gun was pointed at a pedestrian while later a man brandished a weapon after entering a boarding house.
Police say a gun was pointed from a car at a man walking a street at 10.30pm on Wednesday.
They say two men were sitting in the silver Honda Prelude, which was parked on Horner Street.
A few hours later an armed man, described as European and in his late 20s, entered the common room of a Newtown boarding house.
He brandished a firearm for about five minutes before running back out to the street.
Police say they will increase patrols in the area to try to identify the offenders.
