Police say two work-place deaths over a 24-hour period in King Country are just a coincidence and do not point to any major problem.

Forestry worker, Ronald Anderson, 44, was died instantly when a branch fell on him east of Te Kuiti on Thursday.

On Wednesday, Mark Williams, 43, died when a trench he was digging in Te Kuiti collapsed on him.

The Department of Labour is investigating both deaths.
