Investigations are continuing into a suspicious fire in Christchurch that claimed the lives of a woman and her young daughter on Wednesday.
Police say the victims were Angela Ellen Dain, 38, and Baelee Maree Dain, aged 6.
Police believe they were the only people in the Avalon Street house, in the suburb of Richmond, when it went up in flames.
Several neighbours reported seeing a man lurking around the area at the time, but police have not yet released any further information.
Neighbours also reported hearing a loud bang about 12.45am before the fire took hold.
