Police in Rotorua have arrested and charged a man with murder in 2007.
It comes after an investigation lasting 21 months into the killing of Raukawa Ben Newton, 38. He was found stabbed to death at his home in September 2007.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Loper says the FBI and British police were involved in the investigation.
Another man who was badly injured when the killing took place, said he had no memory of the incident.
Detective Senior Sergeant Loper would not confirm if that man was connected with the arrest.
A man, 51, will appear in the Rotorua District Court on Friday.
