Bucklands Beach landslip moves further

A landslip in south Auckland is continuing to move, prompting a fresh warning from the local city council.

The Bucklands Beach slip first started causing problems last year.

Last week land movement picked up speed again and the ground slumped at least a metre more over the weekend, Manukau City Council says.

The council says the land will drop down on to the foreshore at some stage, posing a very real danger to anyone who ignores the warning signs.

Council geotechnical experts will be assessing over the next few days what further movement can be expected.

One of the properties hit is the now abandoned home of the former mayor, Sir Barry Curtis.
