A couple who sparked an armed police callout in the east Otago town of Palmerston in February have pleaded guilty to some charges at a depositions hearing.

Christopher Shaw, 25, and Stacey Snelleksz, 20, have previously admitted charges relating to a fraud and dishonesty spree before their arrest.

In Oamaru District Court on Wednesday, Mr Shaw admitted using a firearm against four police officers, but denied doing so to two others.

Ms Snelleksz denied six charges of using a firearm against police officers.

Both deny four joint charges of willfully ill-treating Ms Snelleksz's two young children.

Ms Snelleksz has admitted dangerous driving causing injury to one of the children.

They have been remanded in custody and will face trial at the High Court in Timaru on 25 September.
