A man missing overnight in the Rangiwahia area in Manawatu has walked out of the bush safe and well.
Police and volunteers had searched for the man, 67, through the night.
They say he was mildly hypothermic but otherwise unharmed when he walked out at about 8.35am on Wednesday.
They do not yet know why he spent the night in the bush.
A police spokesperson said earlier that the Cheltenham man had been cutting bush tracks in the farmland area for local children to use.
He did not return on Tuesday night as expected.
The man's car was found on Tuesday on the main road where he usually leaves it to walk into the bush area.
