Arrest made over vicious assault in Foxton

5:47 pm on 5 August 2009

A man has been charged with assault after a seriously injured man was dumped outside a police station in the Horowhenua town of Foxton.

Detectives believe the 19-year-old suffered a vicious attack before being driven to the station and dragged from the vehicle.

Two officers found the man lying unconscious outside the station about 11pm on Tuesday.

He suffered head injuries and remains in a serious but stable condition in Wellington Hospital.

Police say the assault was so vicious, it is too early to say whether a weapon was used. They say they have established the man's identity and are contacting family members.

A 22-year-old Foxton man, believed to be known to the victim, will appear in Levin District Court on Thursday charged with assault.
