Sprinkler damage to stadium won't disrupt games

There will be no disruption to games at Auckland's North Harbour Stadium, despite a Fire Service call-out when the sprinkler system was activated.

A smell of smoke was reported at about 7pm on Wednesday.

The Fire Service initially thought flooding from the sprinklers had caused significant damage, but stadium chief executive Brendon O'Connor says there is only limited damage to carpets.

He says the facility is fully operational and there are no problems for Thursday night's Air New Zealand Cup match between Northland and Taranaki.
