A Hamilton man has been arrested after riding a motorcycle displaying cardboard registration plates.
The police say they pulled over a 26-year-old man on Wednesday after spotting the plates, but he sped off before they could talk to him.
They say that as the motorcyclist approached an intersection, he swerved, hit a traffic island and collided with a car and van. The man suffered minor injuries and was admitted to Waikato hospital.
The police say the man has been charged with reckless driving and a search revealed he was in possession of a knife, methamphetamine and cannabis. They say they were not aware that the man was also wanted on a number of arrest warrants.
