Three charged following Christchurch man's death

Three people have been charged with assault following the death of a 24-year-old man in a fight in Christchurch.

Police say Timothy Constable was stabbed outside a house in the suburb of Bishopdale in the early hours of Friday morning.

Detective Senior Sergeant Virginia Le Bas says Adam Gempton, Steven Bright and Levi Coombs have been charged with assault.

The men appeared in the Christchurch District Court on Friday. Mr Gempton, 20, was remanded in custody, while Mr Bright, 25, and Mr Coombs, who is 17, were released on bail. All three will reappear in court on Tuesday.

Detective Senior Sergeant Le Bas says other charges will be laid if appropriate.
