Hamilton police have referred the death of a teenager who died in Waikato Hospital to the coroner for further investigation.
The 18-year-old man died on Friday afternoon, a day after being admitted.
Police say he had been involved in an altercation in Hamilton the previous week, but are giving no details about this, or his condition in the intervening period.
Waikato District Health Board is not commenting.
A post-mortem was expected to be carried out on Saturday.
