A fourth man has now been charged by police in the Far North over the knifepoint robbery of three Chinese tourists last week.

Three men were arrested after police raided several houses in Kaitaia on Thursday night, finding foreign currency and some personal items believed to belong to the tourists.

Another man handed himself into police on Thursday morning.

Detective Sergeant Trevor Beatson says they will appear in the Kaitaia District Court later on Thursday charged with aggravated robbery.

The visitors were robbed last Friday after stopping to help men they thought were lost on a gravel road running through Te Paki, leading to 90 Mile Beach.
