Police in Palmerston North have seized 100 air-powered pistols, from a retailer without a dealers license.
The seizure was made earlier this month and police are considering prosecuting the shop owner.
Arms officer Greg Nyhan says the guns have been destroyed.
Two young people were earlier arrested in Palmerston North after they were caught firing an air pistol at children in a playground.
It is illegal to sell air pistols without a license. Sales to those under the age of 16 are prohibited.
