One person has died in a crash on State Highway 2 at Mangatawhiri in Franklin district.
Another person was taken to Middlemore Hospital in serious condition following the two-car collision, near McPherson Rd, at about 6.30am on Sunday.
The road was closed for more than four hours as emergency services cleared the scene of the crash.
