Anti-gambling protest at Sky City casino

Protesters are dumping $5 million - in fake notes - at New Zealand's largest casino to draw attention to the scale of problem gambling.

The Students Against Gambling Association staged the protest at Sky City Casino in Auckland on Tuesday, to show the amount of money spent daily on gambling.

An organiser, Hannah Bartlett, says the association hopes to encourage changes to poker machine laws.

The latest figures from the Department of Internal Affairs show pokie spending rose almost $10 million in the three months to June.
