Man seriously injured in carpark abduction

8:59 pm on 2 September 2009

A Christchurch man is in hospital with serious injuries after being beaten and abducted from the city centre.

The man, aged in his 60s, has extensive facial injuries and requires an operation to insert a plate behind an eye socket.

Police say a woman got into the victim's car about 10.20pm on Monday and told him to drive to a carpark where two men joined in the assault, kicking and punching him.

The attackers, believed to be in their 20s, then forced the man into the passenger seat and drove off.

The man managed to grab the key, turn the car off and roll out.

The attackers, who stole $100 from their victim, are described as a Pakeha woman and two Maori men.
