At least 300 rail commuters had to travel by bus from Johnsonville into Wellington on Friday morning after a train broke down.
TransMetro says there was a mechanical fault on the train about 7.30am near the suburb of Wadestown which prevented other trains running.
The fault delayed travel by more than an hour.
TransMetro says passengers were asked to disembark and were escorted down the tracks to a bus.
The company says engineers have now fixed the fault and the line is operating normally.
