Police in Tauranga are concerned for the safety of a Katikati man who was last seen on Sunday.
Johannes Kaalverink, 46, also known as Han, has a history of depression and has not contacted anyone.
Police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his disappearance.
Mr Kaalverink, who has a strong Dutch accent, was last seen walking near his home along Hot Springs Road in Katikati.
It is thought he may have intended hitch-hiking on State Highway 2.
