Police in Hastings have identified a 60-year-old man found dead in his home earlier this week.
Officers were called to a house in Flaxmere on Monday night where they found the body of Hoera Tako Ripohau inside.
Detective Sergeant Warren Murdoch says the death is suspicious and members of the family in the house at the time have been interviewed.
A post-mortem to determine the cause of death should be completed on Wednesday.
