A south Auckland kapa haka is reforming this weekend to celebrate its 30th anniversary.
Te Kupenga Maori club from Otara has not performed for 15 years, but original member Takurua Tangitu says Auckland members have been practicing hard for four months.
He told Waatea News that those from round the country as well as across the Tasman will be keen to show they have not forgotten the old moves.
The group was started in 1979 by Hillary College Maori language teacher Henare Mahunga, but Mr Tangitu says it quickly became a community-based group with a young, but keen membership.
The Te Kupenga reunion is on Saturday at Whairoa marae in Otara.
