Three fatal crashes in Palmerston North

Three people have died on the roads in or near Palmerston North this weekend.

Two of them, motorcyclists, died within 15 minutes of each other.

The first crash happened at 3.30pm on Sunday when a male motorcyclist crashed on a corner in the suburb of Milson.

The second happened 3.45pm, when a motorcycle went out of control on a bend on Apollo Parade.

Police say the 32-year-old man came off the bike and is believed to have hit a post, and died at the scene.

Meanwhile police have named a 40-year-old woman who died at 8pm on Saturday on Awahuri Road, near Feilding, when her car lost control and hit a concrete bridge post.

She was Linda Jane Manuel from Rongotea.
