Auckland police have taken into custody a man they say entered a church with a knife and hand gun.
Officers were called to the St Heliers Presbyterian Church about 2pm on Monday by staff at the church.
Police say the person who had the weapons is known to church staff, who were forced to retreat into another office.
The church was cordoned off, but the man was found at his home.
