A blaze at a school in the Bay of Plenty settlement of Ruatoki has caused extensive damage.
The blaze spread from a school hall to four classrooms at Te Kura Kaupapa Maori a Rohe o Ruatoki, 15 kilometres south of Whakatane.
The Fire Service was alerted shortly before 6am on Friday and sent seven appliances to help douse the blaze. Tankers were brought in because of difficulty accessing a water supply.
