Two people died in separate car crashes in the North Island on Monday morning.
Police say the first was at Broadwood, north of the Hokianga Harbour, when a car went down a bank and hit a tree at about 8.30am.
The other crash happened on State Highway 27 south of Matamata at 10.58am when a car driven by Newton Matea Phillip Mitchell, 33, veered off the road and went through a fence before ending up in a paddock.
