Two police cars have been rammed during a pursuit in Waikato that lasted three hours early on Thursday.
Police say the incident in Paeroa, which began about midnight, drew officers from neighbouring Waikato towns, dog handlers, the fire service and even locals who joined in the pursuit.
They say a man, aged in his 50s, had rammed the gates of a property after he fled, following an argument with a flatmate. The man had a steel bar, police say.
During the pursuit two police cars were rammed and a minor collision occurred.
A police dog eventually found the man hiding in a drain and officers took him into custody.
