Police in Canterbury say a man will appear in court on Wednesday in connection with an assault that left a two-year-old boy with a brain injury.
A Darfield man, 21, is charged with reckless disregard causing grievous bodily harm.
The incident occurred at a house in rural Southland in May this year when the child was taken to hospital with a head injury.
