Wellington police are warning motorists to take care on roads due to surface flooding, as wet weather hits the North Island .
There are reports of flooding on State Highway 1 at Ngauranga Gorge and possibly in Lower Hutt.
Milk spill
Earlier, a truck spilled 350 litres of cream at Paraparaumu on the Kapiti Coast.
A large container began leaking from a delivery truck shortly before arriving at the Fonterra-owned Kapiti cheese factory at 7.15am on Friday, spilling cream onto Kapiti Rd and Te Roto Drive.
A Fonterra spokesperson says once staff noticed the leaking liquid, they isolated the leaking 1000-litre container and bunged nearby drains.
Wellington Regional Council is satisfied no milk reached nearby waterways.
