A freight train that derailed north of Wellington is back onto the tracks and able to continue its journey to the capital.
Part of one freight wagon came off the tracks near Te Horo at about 3.30am on Wednesday.
Kiwirail says the wagon has been repaired and all services are now back to normal.
Buses were provided for passengers travelling between Palmerston North - Wellington.
KiwiRail says commuters did not experience any delays.
