Don't make promises we can't keep - new ceo

The new chief executive of the Hawke's Bay District Health Board says it shouldn't be making promises it doesn't intend to deliver on, or developing new services and initiatives it can't afford.

Dr Kevin Snee arrived from England last month to take over the job from Chris Clarke, who resigned in February after conflicts with board members.

Dr Snee told Wednesday's board meeting that he has identified several issues that have to be addressed for the DHB to move forward.

He says a lack of a performance management culture in the organisation concerns him, as does a lack of robust plans for saving money.
