Tasman District Council has signalled it will reject the idea of financial support for a $28 million performing arts centre to be built in neighbouring Nelson.
None of the councillors supported a Nelson City Council delegation's call for a contribution to capital or running costs of the proposed venue.
Tasman councillors say they're not convinced there's a benefit for the district's ratepayers out of supporting performances in Nelson city.
The Nelson council will make a final decision on the project after a public hearing in a fortnight.
