A child has been taken to hospital in a critical condition after being hit by a car while crossing the road in South Auckland.
Police say the 8-year-old was crossing Massey Road in Mangere on Sunday afternoon when he was hit.
The child suffered head injuries.
Police have closed Massey Road between Gray Street and Vine Street while the serious crash unit examines the scene.
