A man has fallen to his death at Piapia Bay near Kaeo in Northland.
The local man fell about 25 metres down a cliff to a beach about 2.30am on Tuesday.
The man, in his late 50s, and a friend had been walking along a track to a fishing spot when he lost his footing.
Emergency services have recovered the body.
