3:20 pm on 25 November 2009

A helicopter has been brought in to contain a scrub fire at Opoutere on the Coromandel Peninsula.

The Fire Service says the blaze started just after 9am on Wednesday and spread over six or seven acres.

Four crews, along with the helicopter, have managed to stop the fire from threatening several homes and some forestry areas, shift manager Jaron Phillips says.
