Hutt Valley DHB looking for another $10m

The Hutt Valley District Health Board says it needs to find at least $10 million next year to meet its budget commitments.

The board is the latest DHB having to consider how it will cope with a less than expected increase in government funding for next year.

The Government has told DHBs that the weak economy means they should not expect funding increases in the future to match last year's overall rise of $750 million for the health sector.

Hutt Valley board members meeting on Tuesday will be told that the DHB needs to save or earn an extra $10 million so it can meet a commitment to cut its deficit.
