A baby has been checked by ambulance staff in Hamilton after a house in which it was sleeping was hit by a car.
Police say the baby was asleep in the house when the four-wheel-drive hit the property early on Tuesday, but was not injured.
Senior Sergeant Jeff Penno says the driver had to be cut free and was breath-tested, recording a level more than twice the legal limit.
The accident also brought down electricity lines, causing power to be cut to the suburb of Livingstone on Tuesday morning.
