Most popular skate park to be extended

The Christchurch City Council has voted to approve an extension to the city's largest and most popular skate park.

The $1.2m upgrade of the Washington Way Reserve skate park was delayed while the council addressed the concerns of local business people, who feared more vandalism if the extension were approved.

Council staff have recommended the building of a boundary fence and the establishment of a working party to monitor people's behaviour around the park, and that, says councillor Yani Johanson, should help to address the concerns about vandalism.
