Sightings of leopard seal in Tasman Bay

The Department of Conservation says several sightings of a leopard seal around Tasman Bay are unusual for this time of year.

DoC says leopard seals are meant to be in Antarctic waters at this time of year.

Marine biologist Andrew Baxter says seals can appear to be lazy and dosial when they are lying on the shore, but can in fact, move very quickly.
