Christchurch Hospital has reopened a ward that closed recently after the superbug was found in patients.

Infection control measures were boosted after the methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, or MRSA bug, was found in five patients in a surgical ward at the hospital.

Canterbury District Health Board said on Tuesday there have been no new cases of the superbug and the ward has reopened.
