Christmas started on the wrong foot for a North Island family visiting Christchurch, when they woke on Christmas Day to the sounds of their presents being stolen.
Intruders broke into the family's cabin at the Meadow Park Holiday camp in Papanui at about 3am.
All the gifts for their two daughters, aged four and six, were taken, as well as the family car.
One sack of presents was recovered when a man, 26, was stopped by police while leaving the scene.
Police made arrangements for another set to be delivered to replace those stolen.
