A woman has been charged with the murder of a man who was found dead in Orewa, north of Auckland, last week.
Police officers found the man, 45, dead when they went to a Milton Rd address on Sunday after receiving a report of an attempted suicide. The police say he died from a single stab wound to his chest.
In the North Shore District Court on Friday morning Natalie Theresa Ford, 43, reappeared charged with murder. Ms Ford, whom the police say had been in a brief relationship with the man, was initially charged with assault.
Detective Inspector Bruce Scott says a knife is being examined as part of their investigation.
He says Ms Ford was remanded on bail despite the police's opposing it.
