Canterbury Regional Council says a heavy rain warning is still in place and river levels should still be watched in South Canterbury.
The council warned on Friday of risks on the Rangitata and Waitaki rivers from heavy rain in the Alps.
Duty flood controller Tony Henderson says 40mm of rain has fallen in places. This has not yet raised river levels downstream, but could do so.
Flows are currently at average levels on the Rangitata river and near the manageable peak on the Waitaki downstream from the hydro dams.
