9:54 am on 12 January 2010

A man arrested following a domestic incident is accused of shooting at a neighbours' house after his partner fled there for safety.

Officers were called to Paul Cresent in Hamilton just before midnight on Monday were told a woman and a baby had been assaulted.

Police say they were told the man fired an air rifle into the air and at the house his partner had sought refuge in.

They say when officers arrived, they found a man sitting on the front doorstep holding a baby and armed with an air rifle.

A 21-year-old was arrested and faces charges of assault and misusing a firearm.
