Fire at Timaru warehouse under control

A blaze in a McCain Food's warehouse north of Timaru which forced the evacuation of 65 workers has been brought under control.

At the height of the blaze 10 fire trucks from Timaru and Temuka were at the potato warehouse on Meadows Rd in Washdyke.

The Fire Service says six engines would remain at the site for some time.

No-one was hurt in the fire, the cause of which is not yet known.

Other nearby businesses, including the DB Brewery, were not evacuated.
