A man has died after being hit by a train on the main trunk line at Raumati on the Kapiti Coast just after midnight.
The man is thought to be about 20 years old. Police say he appeared to go onto the tracks as the north-bound commuter train approached him at 00.17am.
He was wearing light coloured clothing.
