A West Coast rescue helicopter was dispatched on Saturday afternoon to rescue a skydiver stuck in a tree.
By the time it got there, however, the skydiver had managed to get himself free.
The police say they were alerted at just after 3.30 to the incident at Granity, which is 30 kilometres north of Westport.
The skydiver appears to have missed the planned landing area and become caught in trees four metres above the ground.
