Police in Hastings have named an American tourist who died in a rafting accident on the Mohaka River on Sunday.
She was Caroline Mackey, 58.
Ms Mackey became trapped under a rock in the Te Hoe drop-off section of the river.
He husband, son and daughter-in-law also fell out of the raft but were able to swim ashore.
A police search and rescue team recovered Ms Mackey's body.
A report will be prepared for a coroner's inquest.
